Wow. I mean you have to admire the fact that he tried to create his own method but the execution was just awful. I mean what was his thought process... "I need a new method, what have I not tried yet ? Hhhmm... I know! FIRE!" I followed up to see what sentence he got, it was 21 months which in the UK system means he prob just done not much over a year. A fair sentence I believe as in the judges own words he was... "Incredibly stupid but not malicious". Link here for reference.

Yeah sounds like he did the same thing as the other tit, poor guy looks like hes been crying all night long. That said though "$45,000 worth of merchandise and cash" - our boy wasn't doing too badly at all.

Got a link to that incendiary story ?
Unfortunately I don't.  It was posted here  some time ago.  I remember it was a Canadian man I believe.

It happened a while back. I'll see If I can locate the article.

Plenty of stories online, of which this Is one of them:

https://www.businessinsider.com/22-year-old-mud-filled-boxes-scam-amazon-370000-2019-8

"The El Español report described Kwarteng and an associate as meticulous, saying that when he received a package, he would place the box on a scale and note its weight, unpack the product, fill the box with dirt until the weight was similar, then later put the item up for sale."

That is described as meticulous xD wow such high level skills required here, unpacking a product, weighing dirt, taping a box...

Maybe that was one of the private LIT methods for sale.

@mothered this example seems quite extreme and as if the guy was really asking for it.

Do you know of any involving a modest SEer who hits retailers once every few weeks without drawing ridiciouls amount of attention to himself? Like below 1k per month?

Seems the average SEer here is only looking for a few nice things every now while maintaining at least some plausable deniability, and not intentially trying to piss off loss prevention units.

Fires the usual recourse for our species xD

Yeah around a year sounds about right our judicial system is pretty lenient, he's an idiot no doubt but no criminal mastermind.

I know of people to do less than 2 years for death by dangerous driving, not much of a deterrent if you ask me!

The OP has asked If anyone's been arrested while social engineering, and I've answered his/her question accordingly.

I meant the guy who got arrested was really asking for it, not OP.
