Oh wow i have to say i wasn't expecting this to be said. In my life i did probably more than 30 meet ups and never had any issues. I usually just pick a somewhat crowded place - for example food courts in the malls. To be honest I've never experienced a single negative outcome of such meeting and i got the full amount every single time. But you know what, let's say that one meeting turned out to be a set up What's the worst outcome? No one will beat you up in a public place. Your items might get stolen - that is possible and I can easily see that happening, however there is not really a chance for a situation where your getting threatened (for example physical violence) due to other people being around. All I can imagine is someone doing a grab and run. If that's the case, well what is there to say... Scammer got scammed :))) (12-26-2022, 09:50 PM)EquitableEngineer Wrote: Very nice thread OP. Have you considered using gift cards to make the purchase on the account? That way after refund you would need to buy a second pair to get your money off the account but i dont see why it would not work. I have had luck doing this with Amazon.Hello my friend I'm trying to see if they actually can issue gift cards as a way of refunding an order, Do you maybe have some experience with this on Nike recently? I'm not referring to the likelihood of It happening, but rather taking precautionary measures when dealing with the unknown. The message Is loud and clear - never become complacent with social engineering, always cover your tracks under every circumstance. In terms of set up, I meant LE. Robbed was a seperate point. Also people might try to pass counterfeit money in a face to face meeting. Interesting you choose crowded places, I would do the opposite but in a safe area, with an exit strategy planned in advance. I would be definitely doing that when selling electronics with IMEI number - if you are getting caught with this, you might want to call your layer on the spot However with shoes? I'm talking about some one of one custom shoes that are a holy grail to confectioners but mass produced sneakers distributed by Nike. Also I don't really understand how would police get involved on this. I can certainly see it on SE levels - if your OPSEC fails then alright, you might be on their radar. But let's assume worst case scenario - unmarked police officer arrests you. For what? There is absolutely no way of them doing this without firstly getting tipped of by nike fraud team, doing their own investigation blah blah blah. My point is, why would they even need a set-up? And even if they connected every single dot, there is still more than 10.000 of this exact shoe in this size. Also about receiving counterfeit money - this is totally possible and I agree with it. I see it a bit as a food chain situation: Manufactures abuse people to make shoes Nike Abuses manufactures by paying extremely low (factory's margin is incredibly low, feel free to check that on the internet - I might post a link here later) We abuse Nike system with social engineering We get abused with for example counterfeit money, good being stolen etc etc This list can go even further depending on what guy that stole from us decides to do with them Moral of the story? If you don't bring home the bacon, someone else will. Don't get mad over being scammed when you were the one that did exact same thing. --> of course this applies to SE'ed orders After reading all that one more time, I finally see bad sides of meet-ups. Risk of being caught is higher and that's against good Social Engineers etiquette. |
