If I understood the email correctly (see below) then, yes, Amazon opened the box after they received it from DPD. I didn't know myself that things were so bad for my account. That certainly contributed to it. True. When it was returned, the camera was picked up by a DPD driver. It was not inspected. Right. However, I had to sign a sheet when I handed it over, which I didn't read carefully. Amazon also did not tell me to return the original item. Best I post here what they emailed me (slightly modified): ------- Good day! We are contacting you regarding the return of the Sony A 7 IV item from your XXX order. Our returns department has notified us that they have received an old model. We can confirm that the item Sony A 7 IV was in the box at the time the box handed over to DPD left the logistics center. The incorrect old Model item you sent in will be disposed of by us. We are aware that occasionally there are problems with a return. However, your account has experienced unusually frequent problems with returns. Please note that repeated violations of our policies may result in your inability to purchase from Amazon. Our team of account specialists is currently unable to provide support by phone or chat. If you would like to appeal this decision, please reply to this email. Account Specialist Amazon.de RE: Which method for Sony A7 IV? - gatescrusher - 07-14-2022 Could I theoretically make the DPD collector responsible for the incident? That he has replaced the camera? Or did it fail? RE: Which method for Sony A7 IV? - wdihuwuhidhuw - 07-14-2022 I am new to SEing so do not take my words too seriously. It seems like doing what you suggested would so to speak be biting off more than you can chew. It seems to me like a mountainous task because I doubt a policy/protocol exists in Amazon for such a unique and rare claim. Doing that could severely complicate things and make Amazon take this SE a lot more seriously because you are insinuating that the driver or someone else has tampered with your package and might require an extended investigation. Moreover, you could be implicating innocent people into your SE which is in my opinion unethical but that is up to you on whether you feel that holds weight or not. I know it might not be an easy decision, but I would take a loss and do one of three things. Either return the item to Amazon, keep it for personal use (if you can afford to), or sell it on a secondary marketplace for close to break even/ a small loss. Why secondary market place? I have read stories on this forum where Amazon have closed accounts and then after returning the proper item, the user still did not receive a refund. Even though the risk may be minute for you, it is something to consider especially of an item of such a high value. You are right. There is some risk that despite normal return they will close my account and I will not get the money. So far they have only threatened me to close it or not be able to make any more orders. Blaming the driver seems immoral to me on second thought. Thank you. I only want to damage DPD as a company, but not the courier. After thinking about it for a while, I think it might be best to tell Amazon that I accidentally sent it back the wrong camera. I hope they don't close my account and still allow the refund. At least there was nothing explicit in the email. Thank you I will do that. I have failed. But next time I will know better. Then I know that you need a good history and the razor blade is too risky for this item. At least for me. |
