  • I ordered iPhone to my address
  • I ordered "wrong item" to an Amazon locker on a different account using a different device and a different bank card
  • I got in touch with Amazon about 20 minutes after my order arrived saying I had received wrong item - they demanded police report - I disputed this on the phone and got put through to manager
  • Manager told me to send pictures of wrong item in iPhone Amazon box with pictures of the Amazon box barcodes etc. (this was a tight fit with the "wrong item" I used, so I recommend trying to order something of similar dimensions to a laptop to avoid running into issues with this
  • They told me to send it back, so I obliged and UPS picked it up the next day
  • I had to wait 2 weeks for my refund as they didnt scan it on delivery which was annoying but refund did land.

This is a brief breakdown of what happened with my Wrong Item received method and it was a great success.

What was the weight difference on your orders? Was they precise?

There was like a 50g difference.

Ok and did you order a electronic as a replacement, or?

Yes. There are countless threads on this that will answer your questions, I feel like I have answered these questions before from you as well so might be worth just going back and referencing old posts.

Is there any chance that they will ask for the outer packaging that the wrong item came in? If so, how would I be able to proceed with the SE given that the outer packaging will have a different name and address?
Also, the laptop in question has a reported weight of 1.9kg in the manufacturer's website. On Amazon though the package weight is only 1kg. Am I missing something here?

Nice, how recent was this?  I never had much luck with the wrong item method on Amazon, at least recently, can't remember if I ever did.

This was about a month ago, had to stay firm as it took them a while to accept that I did not have to file a police report, I also had trouble after 2 weeks of them receiving it; CS rep kept saying they did not receive parcel despite tracking saying otherwise, once again got put through to a manager, had to fill out a brief form explaining when I sent it, what I sent etc. and I got my refund in my bank 2 days later.
[/quote]Wait, is this the wrong item you just got an email about?

I did see that the other day and it gave me a chuckle. Yeah I emailed back just asking why they think the correct item was in the box etc. and if they could explain further. They got back to me with a slightly generic email and said that my account remains open for now but if I do not follow terms of service they will close account. So I think I will give this account a rest for a while and switch to the one you kindfully unlocked for me the other day!
