You did the right thing.

Under the circumstances, I'd say a successful outcome would've been almost a certainty.

This is a good lesson for amateur SEers to understand that no matter how perfectly you plan everything, no SE is ever guaranteed to succeed. There is always the possibility of an unexpected problem occurring, so a backup plan should always be made before attempting an SE.

When formulating a given method, you're In charge of giving It the highest degree of success. However, when the attack vector leaves your local environment, you have very little to no control of the steps taken during the claim's assessment.

Does that mean that he isn't following company protocol, but is taking it personal and doing this in his free time because he is frustrated why I told them I received nothing?

I've read about drivers demanding SEers to fill in documents in which are written that they in fact did receive the parcel, does this actually happen and is this the case here?

The courier company can send a different person to check at your address and if you say no, they can send the original courier because courier companies can make the driver cover the loss from their salary.

Fair point.
It can be something stressful or scary for people who are getting into SE.

Can you SE multiple perfumes at once with the broken glass method? or is that just more suspicious
