Usually you don't open the film "in the middle", but possibly at the edges or corners. Because there the seal usually looks "not completely smooth" or "new", in my experience.

Ohh, I see that I misunderstood - I thought you were asking where I was when opening the package...
DTo answer your question, the package did not have a film, so I simply peeled the sticker carefully with nonstick material and replaced it after I was done.
