This means that if you want to sell it you have to find an individual who is not aware of this and is willing to buy it from you.
If you intend on keeping it you need to find a trusty repair shop who will be willing to work on it (it will very likely be reported as stolen from the place you purchase it and this will reflect upon crosschecking the database). In general if you are looking to buy one used you can request to check the SN hence why I said you need to be extra careful.

Here is a little bit of info but I am sure you can research more.

Yes Im aware of this. Its only obvious for such a high value item. Honestly I want one as its a great thing to have for a rainy day. Its not hard to find someone who will buy it for cheaper. I would never wear anything so expensive personally. Your message is exactly why id rather not DNA it also. I know the chances are slim but perhaps if i were to go via paypal SNAD then FTID them, there would be a slight chance that it somehow goes un noticed and not reported as missing as stolen. Probably naive, but a better chance than if it was DNAd IMO.

Also contemplated flying to the US and doing this over there, as it would make it a little less hot to own it here... potentially.

Certainly there is lesser chance to get reported if you do not DNA. I am not familiar with how they operate in terms of data sharing etc between the US and "here" (presumably Europe). Have you thought about SNAD with potentially swapping it for high end replica? Many of them are very close to the real thing unless you know what you are looking at (and often times even the experienced eye can be deceived). If you are interested in more info regarding this let me know I will be glad to share what I know Smile

what is SNAD?

I am interested, i can get almost 1:1 replicas for about $500 so i would like to know more about this please.

Quote:In terms of a Section 75, they're legally obliged to take on your claim and not disregard It without good reason. If they decline It, you can take your Issue to the FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service), whereby they'll Investigate It In an Impartial and unbiased manner.

In regards to section 75, it is worth nothing that if you pay with a Credit Card via PayPal you waive your section 75 rights. This is because you are not purchasing the item directly via your Credit Card, rather you are funding PayPal to buy it for you.

Quote:From my research I have gathered that there are two main stores in the UK that other "refunder services" seem to offer people rolex watches from.

One word of warning regarding basing your research on "Refunding Services". Remember they do not do personal SE's using their own credentials. Rather they are using others personal credentials, so naturally they are taking very little risk and hence they would not really care regarding the repercussions of an SE as its not their details on the line.

Not sure if that would work as they can identify the watches via their serial numbers.

The more expensive you go, the more risks are involved obviously. I personally wouldn't do something for 16 grand unless i knew for certain i would have a 90%+ chance of success beforehand.

What are you planning to do with a Rolex? Sell it or keep it for yourself?

In my experience the majority of companies class £450 and above to be expensive and will look in to it more, so expect a lengthy process and an actual investigation for something that's 16K or something.

If you go through with it, good luck, let everyone know how it went.

well I think like you ... the more there is gain the more there is risk ... just think that they open practice (which is obvious) you could not sell it because it would be lost / stolen ... if you want to try it and in the mouth wolf!

Yes, It must be a direct credit card transaction.

Thanks for mentioning It.

I'm ngl the replica method via pp sounds like a bad idea. I feel like an ftid/box will be better. You're trying to tell me these watch companies won't know its a returned replica? It will add unnecessary heat to your claim whereas a normal ftid/box is more discreet.

I will be interested to see if you've made any developments on your plan, OP @durden666

To be on the safe side, It can be any Item that's closely matched to the original.
