I agree. I doubt you can make a hollywood take that's as good as or better than the original. However, I do believe they're capable of a decent tribute.

Ghost In Shell is a futuristic anime, with awesome story, good action sequence. Scarlet Johnson made excellent portrait of Major's role. Good start for japanese anime into Hollywood.

There have been several anime and manga adaptations that have been turned into Hollywood movies over the years. Here are some notable examples:

Ghost in the Shell (2017) - Based on the influential manga and anime film directed by Mamoru Oshii, this live-action adaptation starred Scarlett Johansson as Major Motoko Kusanagi. The film received mixed reviews and sparked discussions over casting choices.

Dragonball Evolution (2009) - This live-action adaptation of the popular "Dragon Ball" franchise was poorly received by fans and critics alike. It took significant liberties with the source material and is often cited as one of the worst anime adaptations.

Death Note (2017) - Netflix produced a live-action adaptation of the hit psychological thriller manga "Death Note." Despite a strong fan base, the film faced criticism for its deviation from the original story and characters.

Alita: Battle Angel (2019) - Based on the manga "Gunnm" (also known as "Battle Angel Alita"), this film directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameron received praise for its visuals and action sequences, although opinions varied on its story.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019) - This film featured a unique blend of live-action and CGI, focusing on the Pokémon universe and loosely based on the "Detective Pikachu" video game. It was generally well-received by audiences.

Cowboy Bebop (2021) - Netflix created a live-action adaptation of the beloved anime series "Cowboy Bebop." While it garnered some interest, it struggled with critical reception and was ultimately canceled after one season.

Oo I've seen Alita. I enjoyed that, though I know very little about the source material.
