Correct.

And that address Is the real address based on the tracking number (and not the one altered on the label), therefore the driver will deliver the package based on the details generated by the scan Itself, and not what's documented on the label.

Ohhh gotcha.
Can I ask if you know all of this for a fact? If so, if you don't mind me asking, how?
Answer to your own personal discretion of course!

Edit: I can confirm you are indeed correct!
The packages are delivered to the address on the barcode. The driver can double check the address is correct, and if not it's probably dependent on the driver of whether they'll actually go out of the way to deliver to the address on the label vs in the barcode. It looks like going off-route it pretty discouraged though.

With that said, what do you think is the best thing to send to ensure your package is just disposed of upon reaching company return center? Just an empty envelope?

How do the various paid services offer FTID then? They must use a way that ensures that the package is delivered to the wrong address every single time. I don't think they leave their service to the chance of the couriers that might choose to deliver to the correct address.

But at the same time, I don't think couriers manually check the label on the package, input the address in their GPS maps, and then go. I assume the system does this for them. If the system does this, the address comes from the tracking number, and then they will deliver to the correct address.

And yet FTID services say that the package will never reach the company. How do they do it? Do they change the barcode too?

I'm not sure.
They don't input the address themselves - their route and stops are determined algorithmically via label before they start their deliveries. UPS uses a software they developed called ORION to do this. I'm sure other couriers do something similar. According to a post from a UPS industrial engineer 4 years ago, ORION was not exactly perfectly optimized so some drivers used their own routes. 4 years is a long time to make huge improvements in their algorithms though.

If the service is using prepaid labels, I can only imagine they are (possibly unknowingly) lying. I somewhat doubt every FTID service provider actually looks into the details of how the couriers deliver and just blindly believe Bob (I sure did lol). Changing the barcode seems impossible as it'll require a new tracking number. Maybe they know more than we do though. I don't know much to be real lol

If using your own label, then obviously you can send to a different address. Now, the company will never receive the package, but the tracking # online will show delivered to the city. If they investigate, they'll definitely find it was delivered to the incorrect address, thereby failing the SE. If the rep is lazy and sees it was delivered and does not actually verify/ investigate, then the SE will be successful.

With a prepaid label and modifying address: Whether the package gets to the correct address or a modified seems to be driver's choice (if they even notice it's modified. Lots of packages go to the return centers at once, checking each package's written address seems pretty unlikely). If it gets sent to the modified address, then I'm pretty sure the tracking number will show it was delivered to the correct address and that would succeed your SE. Unless they investigate and during the investigation, they talk to the driver and s/he distinctly remembers delivering the package to an address that was different than what their stop says.

If it gets sent to the correct address, irregardless of b/c modified and driver didn't notice or just didn't modify in the first place, the company has the option to open an investigation upon receiving an empty package with just a tracking bar code. They can scan the barcode themselves, get the tracking number, and then ask for more information from the courier about that tracking number. From there, they can get reference number, return address, package weight, etc. and link the package to you. All of this requires time and money, so going through all these efforts seems unlikely.

Take everything I say with a few grains of salt - as I mentioned before, I don't actually know much. Everything is just speculation.

btw sorry OP. This discussion is starting to deviate a bit from your Walmart post and becoming a discussion about FTID in general. Though this'll help everyone for our next SE's! Biggrin

You certainly may ask.

Without naming specifics, 35 years of experience In the transport/shipping Industry.

Back In the 70s, yes.

As mentioned, nowadays deliveries are an automated process based on scanning.

Oh wow, it's always super cool knowing somebody has more experience in a single industry than I do in my entire life among any topic.

What do you think is the best way to ensure your package is just disposed of upon arriving at the company? Just an empty envelope? Package weight is also tracked though - I would suspect SE would fail if they cross-check and see the package weight is incorrect after you tell them it was delivered and give them the tracking number.

This is absolutely plausible.

I can't help to wonder then how refund guys do their services through FTID. I assume it works almost flawlessly if they keep doing it.

Maybe Bob's ebook is almost completely fake and there are many things we don't know.

I don't think it's completely fake. I just think there are lots of inconsistencies that aren't immediately noticeable until you really look into the details. I would imagine this is on purpose so that his own personal method is always still usable.
Just speculation though.

I don't think those refund services do anything too differently. Maybe just minor details here and there that make it work better. Especially since a lot of them require Paypal for most sites. They are relying on Paypal giving the refund with the tracking number.

Any update? Have you talked to a manager/supervisor yet?

Make It appear as something completely useless , such as an advertisement that has "no relevance to the Interest of the company".

It's certainly weighed on consignment, however once It's disposed, they have no way to "physically cross-check It" against the carrier's records.

As such, a refund will be manually processed.

As I've mentioned a number of times, It contains too many variables for the FTID method to work on a consistent basis.

It's flawed In many areas, and certainly far from being close to perfection.

I had this exact thought. I was thinking it would look strange to slap a packaging label onto an ad/magazine.

I'm a little confused. Why would they have no way to check against the carrier's records? Can't they just ask the carrier for details on package with particular tracking #?
