Nice one. btw, quick question did you use a different address to buy the "wrong" item or not? I'm going to try this method too, but idk how to go about it

Yeah, so I actually ordered it to an Amazon Locker fairly close by. I feel as if it's far easier than ordering to a different house and picking it up there.

Cool! last question, did the rep ever ask you to take a picture of the "wrong" item or they just asked you to ship it back right away? Because I found an item with the exact weight but shipping it back would cost more than the item since it is very cheap. I am thinking that maybe if I can tell the rep that I have the wrong item (even if I do not have it) the rep can just let me have the item since it is very cheap and shipping it back would cost them more.

Nope, I called the rep my first time to be sure they noted that I actually received a wrong item, so there would be zero discrepancies while reviewing my return. You don't have to do it, you can just do it via the return center on Amazon.com. Usually, Amazon will cover the cost of the return, all you have to do is just ship it back to them. I'm not exactly sure on how they decide on if you could keep the item or not but I would assume they'll want it back regardless.

On a separate note, I got the refund to show up in my account, but Amazon has yet to update my order page with "Refund Sent." It just stays on "Return Received," I'm a little worried/confused...

Hey mate, figured I might try this, which RTX 2080 did you get? I'm eyeing up the 2080ti Asus ROG STRIX OC Edition

Just a little update on this particular se

So I was able to se an EVGA gpu, which meant I could utilize their step-up program. And using an invoice generator, I was able to claim that the item cost more than I paid for it and therefore pay less when upgrading to a different model via the aforementioned program. It was pretty simple and took minimal effort.

Did you se the 2080 and then change the price on the invoice to be more than the 2080ti that way you could upgrade to the 2080ti via stepup? Just curious why not SE the 2080ti in the first place?

Didn't have enough to spare when beginning the se, didn't want to lose over $1k if things went awry. But yeah, just state that the 2080 costs close to whatever their current offering is at the time. Right now it's the 2080ti XC Gaming, so price it close to that and you're in business.

@"neekhavod"

What item did you managed to order as the wrong item? If you don't mind me question.

I stuck with an Amazon Basics Grill Cover for this specific GPU, there were minor discrepancies with the weight but I managed to figure that out as well.

Just for the sake of curiosity, did you order both the grill and the GPU it from the same device/IP?
