I was able to get the lady to accredit the $800 to an amazon account under a fake name, but when she went to apply the credit the card was locked. I think the guy on Facebook (where I acquired the serial) had scammed someone. He sold it to them for cash and then reported it lost or stolen so they couldn't claim it and planned on unlocking it later by claiming he found it. So I was not able to get the money on my account.. But.. it is definitely possible 100% and was VERY easy to do. Thanks a lot for letting me know because I did not know you could do this.

Tried a diff method a few months ago claiming that the back of the gc was damaged I guess this was the method I was looking for the whole time thanks op!

If someone is selling one on ebay or something like that, they might post a picture of the back of it. Then you can see the serial but not the scratched off claim code.
So you saying you can say that you purchased one from ebay and they sent you a picture of the giftcard.. you can see the serial but not the claim code... I thought they sold Amazon GC through email and physical copies I didn't know they sent pictures.
Never se'd Amazon but I think op meant taking a photo of the physical giftcard
