RE: Immortality, Curse or godsend? - mothered - 08-07-2018 An Interesting thought Is, how would the ageing process progress? Those at the age of 100 have significant difficulty In recollecting their thoughts, and are also quite Immobilized. RE: Immortality, Curse or godsend? - Jiggly - 08-07-2018 Here's some more food for thought. We often think of these questions and assume we are the only immortal ones and that reproduction still occurs - so that you'd outgrow your loved ones. However, a lot of theorists suggest organisms do one of two things, evolve to have longer life spans and less offspring, or shorter lifespans and more offspring. Keeping this in mind, imagine a world where everyone is immortal, but you don't have offspring. I imagine social values and social structure would be very different. RE: Immortality, Curse or godsend? - edgy - 08-08-2018 To be honest I would say yes. But for the reason of I am a very curious person. With only a general average of life being 70-80 years or more its not enough time to do everything id like to do. If I had unlimited amounts of time to learn and research and grow, I would be content. I would get to see the world evolve with new technologies or ideas for better or worse. With money being a factor some people never escape the loop of bills and lack of money. So having unlimited time would also eliminate that being that you would have all the time you need to obtain the money. I also believe "how" you live those years Is very Important. I know one person who's 74 years old and Is still working full time, 5 days a week. What quality of life (and expectancy) will he have once retired? Yeah very true in itself. A lot to think about for sure. RE: Immortality, Curse or godsend? - Vultra - 08-09-2018 Another thing, You will be remember for who you're as a murder. BUT, there is a good side of being immortal. You can use it for good in terms of being sent to Afghanistan or, Iran and fight against them. RE: Immortality, Curse or godsend? - DarkMuse - 08-09-2018 Depends if you'rea believer in pessimism or not. Death is closure, never achieving closure is literal insanity by definition RE: Immortality, Curse or godsend? - reGEN - 08-09-2018 To those who say that they want to learn everything in the universe, realize that eternity is a long ass time... a really, really, really long time. While it may possibly take a billion billion billion years to learn everything, that is still effectively zero compared to an infinite lifetime. It's simply not possible to know the workings of every minute detail. |
