The registry does not require cleaning nor any form of optimization. Invalid entries just sit there, hence have no Impact on system performance.

Tools like CCleaner, TuneUp Utilities/AVG PC TuneUp, System Mechanic, Advanced SystemCare and so forth are simply a bunch of bloatware that, If paid for, Is a complete waste of money.

Be carefull with the registry cleaner feature. I personally wouldn't use it. I heard about programs breaking down because CCleaner deleted registry keys that it thought it didn't need. If you use the registry cleaner, always back-up and save the .reg file.

Back a couple years ago when I installed CCleaner it would normally have unneeded software included or suspicious things included. Also, I feel like most cleaner programs don't actually make your computer faster in practice, just show you statistics and such. But MalwareBytes is pretty good for removal of malware and thus speed up your pc.
