Agreed with the above. Sending back an old GPU might work (but this is NOT an empty box lol), just make sure that you're telling them this is what you received. Other factors that come into play:

Health of the account: Do you have a decent number of recent orders? I've done a refund of that magnitude after 4 orders on my account and that was using not delivered. If it's a fresh account, DON'T try it! Not unless you've got a lot of experience and know what you're doing

Number of refunds on the account: Do you have any previously refunded items? As long as there's a decent amount of time between refunds (2-3 months) or a decent number of orders in between (4-5) you should be fine. I did 3 refunds total on my account, each one 2-3 months from the last with at least 5 orders in between. Each refund was at least $600, the most was like $950

Good luck!

should it be sent with the same box? does it matter if an item you'r sending is not new.
I want to try this method with a power supply, so far I have one unused and unopened but much cheaper, would it work if I send it them back?

It'd make sense to send it in the same box. If someone legitimately got an old thing, they'd just leave in the box, contact support and return it asap right ?

I have never tested it, either have never SEd amazon. Want to give it a try with sending "wrong" item back

I've accidentally SE'd Amazon when something wasn't delivered when it said it was. Granted, I lived in an apartment and someone could easily just take something that someone left at my door. They shipped a second unit when I submitted the problem to them. I later ended up receiving the late delivery item and just kept both of them. I don't see anyway they can combat theft due to the delivery service leaving boxes outside of your door. I wouldn't do this too often though.

That's another story, I'm not in US and to get things shipped directly to my address I use 3d party companies. I have no clue how do they work, so not sure if I can use not delivered method

Why not drop ship to an American address (someone you trust) and pay them for shipping (or double dip product before refunding and let them keep second product)?

Chances are he doesn't trust Americans like the majority of the world haha jk. Whatever reship service he's using probably records everything so your idea's prob his best bet, lower risk, but could easily get scammed too :/
