Why can't you do it yourself after that much experience? Did you rape your address with tons of orders and need someone else' address to finish the job? Do you just not have enough time to pull these off? Anything is easily SE'able if you know what you're doing. Following a guide doesn't make you a professional. RE: Complete Home Automation - I Need Your Help! - Dopewaffle - 09-03-2017 Just thought I'd update this thread. I finally received a switch panel that will connect my fan to my Samsung smart connect hub! I'm gonna go ahead and sell off the methods to these companies then the products. Job well fucking done!!! RE: Complete Home Automation - I Need Your Help! - Skullmeat - 09-04-2017 All you need are some Raspberry Pi, Audrino and a bunch of relays to do alot of home automation. RE: Complete Home Automation - Over 8 Successful SE's!!! - Dopewaffle - 09-05-2017 Hey guys one more question, are you able to sell methods and/or items on this forum? I've noticed a lot of forums don't allow you to buy/sell methods. The soft route, and the touch route... Neither sound too bad, right? (btw, I came up with the names)
Spoiler: THE TOUCH ROUTE
Learn to code in an embedded language. Arduino (everyone uses this), Espurino (Pls no JS), eLua (Lua is good for beginners), Scratch for Android (don't do this unless you are 5) Make sure your microcontroller is compatible with the language you chose. In this tutorial, we will be learning Arduino. Now, play around with some hardware. Get a breadboard, jumper wires, resistors, LEDs, etc. Or just get an electronics kit.
Next, follow some tutorials or read books for projects:
Congrats, you made it! Now you should make a few projects by yourself. REMEMBER: SEARCH ENGINES ARE YOUR FRIENDS Spoiler: THE SOFT ROUTE
Learn to use Linux, and learn to code in a scripting language like Lua (good for beginners), Python (Also good for beginners), or Node.JS (pls no js) Get a SBC (single board computer), I recommend a Raspberry Pi or Beaglebone Black:
Read some tutorials and books:
Congrats, you made it! Now you should make a few projects by yourself. REMEMBER: SEARCH ENGINES ARE YOUR FRIENDS But, after starting one, you will eventually need to gain knowledge that is only in the other route... (@Dopewaffle This is good for you ![]() Here is an IoT book that combines both: https://www.amazon.com/Internet-Things-Do-Yourself-BeagleBone/dp/0071835202 One last thing: Trust me, it's not as hard as you think it is. This applies to both routes. And... The final thing: Avoid CodeAcademy... It is slow and it sucks. Good luck with your future electronics projects!
