That's real tough. I hope that your family finds its peace with it and you get to settle into a more relaxed life. Eh, I think it's something that goes case by case. My parents split when I was 12 and I have a much younger sibling. My "stepdad" (technically not yet married to my mum but has been in our lives for like a decade) came into our lives about 1-2 years after my parents separation. That felt too fast and he certainly didn't refer to us as his kids until a few more years later. Now however, it means a lot to me that he would refer to us as his kids. I don't call him Dad, but he has done so much for my family and supported my mum and he really wasn't a natural or experienced with kids. Him calling us his daughter etc shows that there's a strong family bond between us. I know that if I had not got on well with him, I would probably never have wanted to be called his daughter, but it really would depend on the personality and the relationship you have with your parents other halves. OP - That was a truly lovely video. My family's split doesn't seem to have gone quite so smoothly as theirs in the video, but I would say it feels more like my family expanded than broke. I never felt unloved. From my perspective, I always worried, and still do about my parents and how they cope with it. RE: Do you have split parents? - DenisDinkledj - 10-25-2021 My parents are split, and my mother lives with me, and my dad lives with a nurse which I pay for. I'm not very happy about the fact they live now and I would like them to get back together, but what can I do.( I tried to speak to them yesterday and even got tickets to Bali, so I hope they'll get get back together. And I'm planning to speak to them about moving to a senior house, any good one from [link redacted] list. RE: Do you have split parents? - danas - 10-27-2021 No, my parents have been married for over 30 years and of course they live together. I am very happy and proud of them, there are different situations in life, but to stay together with your love throughout your whole life is strong and much more difficult than breaking up over any little thing, you need to be able to forgive, love and care. |
