Don't think so since I don't really move in my sleep and woke up laying on the other arm.

Do you notice any swelling or irritation?

No not really,
Have you done anything that could have psychically caused the pain such as jamming your thumb, landing on it or etc?

I don't think so.
Could possibly be something like a sprain or tissue problems. You should give it a day and see if the pain goes away at all. Don't be too stressful on that thumb but if after a while the pain does not decrease you should see a doctor.

Warm it up with something like a warm bath/shower on it, heating it up should help the tissue to relax.

Take a pain reliever and a muscle relaxer. It sounds like you could have shot a nerve, if it's not subsiding in a few days then go to your doctor as it may be a severe underlying problem.

Also, be sure to drink water. That may help if it's like a weird cramp.
