Try codecademy, it's a great place to learn beginner HTML/CSS. Also, the really bright green isn't all that attractive, try going for something else with a matte look to it. Also a plain black background is bad too. I haven't seen a website with a black background in a while, try going for medium-light to dark gray, kind of like this forums background. Otherwise, good job! I would like to see it setup on a .tk domain with 000webhost (both free) so I can see the website for myself. Good luck finishing it, you've done pretty good so far.

A girl pays me $20 to create a website for her.. The website is no were hard to create as she just wanna feature her productSmile I might have the job, I will know next week!Smile

Even with free web hosting, depending on your needs, you can utilize It In a professional manner.

Once you hook up a custom domain name with a good domain extension (not .tk, .biz etc trash) and you personalize the site, It will have the appearance and feel similar to that of paid hosting. Domains are cheap nowadays and If you're like me who's always checking on a daily basis (and keeping an eye for domains on redemption periods), you can pick up a pretty good one at a very reasonable cost.

I wish you all the very best with your job. I do hope all goes well for you.

For your first attempt, it's not that bad. I dont't like the colors you chose.

RE: First html/css website - insidious - 07-14-2016

Looks pretty good. Like how you kind of used a pretty popular design that other more known website used and tried to emulate it. That's pretty much how i started out --> trying to emulate other websites I liked and learned through that.

Like others have said CodeAcademy is a good place to learn HTML/CSS. Just for syntax, though.

What's your next project looking like? Incorporating any other languages?

RE: First html/css website - Galvanized - 07-18-2016

Couple of things. Fix up spelling, change the colour scheme, learn to take a proper screenshot so we can see it better, uninstall windows 10.
It's not too bad, the layout is alright and the top bar looks sleek.
Don't be afraid to play around with fonts, but don't go too crazy.
Keep all this in mind as well. A website is only as difficult as you make it (to some extent).
Keep in mind people use different devices with different screen resolutions etc. I recommend setting up a free website on neocities so everyone here can try it out. You'll get better feedback that way.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do Smile
