I admit I did not know the actual statistics of UK's acceptance. The problem is a pretty good chunk of the "refugees" aren't from Syria at all. They're from countries in Africa, India, Egypt, Pakistan, etc. They're all coming to Europe and claiming they're Syrians for refugee status. Also, they are dictating how many refugees each country has to accept. In fact, here's a quote: Quote:The European Union announced a new plan Wednesday to deal with asylum seekers, requiring member states to accept certain numbers under a quota system and imposing 250,000-euro-per-migrant fines if the countries do not.My source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/central-european-countries-resist-new-eu-refugee-quota-proposal/2016/05/04/5be5a32c-120e-11e6-a9b5-bf703a5a7191_story.html That is precisely what you say isn't happening. Right on the money, but my guess is that this kind of argument doesn't appeal to most conservatives or is easy for them to discount, in which case they should also acknowledge just how detrimental this will be (and already has been) to the British economy. Britain is reliant on the EU as trade partners and they make a profit on being a member. If you want great laughs check #brexit on Twitter, pure salt mine. People equating this vote to proving that most of Brittan is racist. The UK is absolutely reliant on the EU: Quote:The proportion of total exports to the EU was 48% in April 2016. And the figure of 350m has been refuted with frequency: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/reality-check/2016/may/23/does-the-eu-really-cost-the-uk-350m-a-week Quote: I don't think the referendum had anything to do with race, although there are always people crying wolf when it comes to racism. The whole thing was a concerted nationalistic effort to expel migrants and end the freedom of movement that comes with the EU. The way you quote the word refugees is a bit off putting if you're suggesting that these people are leaving their home lands for any reason other than to flee violence and oppression. And so what if they aren't all from Syria? ISIS, islamic terrorism, and war isn't confined to Syria only. Take a look at this graph: ![]() You implied that people coming from Africa and Pakistan don't deserve asylum because they are somehow lying??? Does Boko Haram not have a real presence in Nigeria? Is Ukraine not undergoing a civil war? Does the Taliban not exist in Pakistan or Afghanistan? (06-24-2016, 02:51 PM)Axari Wrote: Also, they are dictating how many refugees each country has to accept. Brexit has NOTHING to do with race. This is not a racial problem, this is an immigrant/refugee problem. Brexit isn't a thing because they're racist towards Africans and Arabs, it's a thing because Britian is fucking scared to shit of having their country torn apart by these barbarians because they see it already happening to Sweden and Germany, and I don't blame them a tiny bit. Also, for the record, there are more races in the migrants than just Arab and African. It seems you're the one with your eyes "sewn shut." I encourage you to watch this video so that you can see what I mean when I say Germany and Sweden are getting fucked by these migrants. Would you like to know why the billboard uses brown people to portray the refugees? I don't fucking know, maybe it's because the majority of refugees are brown, but there's no way that could be it cause that's racist right!!!!!! By getting pissed off about something like that, I get the feeling you're trying to find the dumbest shit to go against Brexit for because there's literally no other reason to be against it other than your precious "but dats rasist!" Obviously someone who leads a movement to keep destructive migrants out of their country is going to be accused of racism, thanks to ignorant people like you who actually think this has something to do with race. Shit, I get accused of racism when I pull up stats on fucking Muslims even though Islam isn't even race. Either way, an accusation is an accusation, you should probably assume that those are wrong before assuming they're true little buddy. Of course you probably don't see anything wrong with that though. I would seriously respond to you but you always resort to being rude and name calling as you already have and I really don't have the patience to deal with that right now. RE: UK Leaving EU - pvnk - 06-24-2016 Something is happening and some people are pretending like they understand what's going on. This should be good. Ignoring the issue muslims and the recent refugee crisis relating to Syria, there has been for a while a disaffection with the idea of a highly multicultural Britain. Take from that what you will, perceive it as racism or whatever but it is undeniably tied up with the idea of an indepent, sovereign britain and brexit. I think alot of conservatives will talk about the rational behind this xenophobia because of the dangers of terrorism but one has to remember that the severity of these threats in highly exaggerated. I have been thinking about the comparisons that are made with the suggested treatment of muslims by figures like trump and the the treatment of jews at the start of world war 2. At first I thought that such comparisons were ludicrous, after all jews werent suicide bombing and shooting up places like muslims are today, the comparison is at fault because muslims are an active harm. But recently my line of thinking has changed, after all, at the time jews were considered to be economically dangerous, that they were purposely leading to the demise of germany through the control of big business, economic terrorism if you will. can this exaggeration of the perception of the dangers of jews at the start of ww2 and the perception of the dangers of muslims be compared? I don't know, but it is food for thought. and the attacks of halal foods and the proposed muslim bans seem to be red flags to me. We in the U.S. have been having this same argument with immigration from Mexico from people who are fleeing violence. Who cares if they are unskilled or uneducated? You're acting like because they are unskilled workers they have no value in society. In America, our economy depends on a large workforce of unskilled workers to do the jobs that U.S. born citizens wont. Alabama tried banning illegal immigrant labour (Alabama HB 56), and it was almost universally considered an epic failure as "Industries dependent on migrant labor have been strongly impacted. Farmers have found that Americans are not willing to work under such harsh working conditions for low pay.[15] Some businesses in other industries have lost workers, including legal workers, as a result of the new immigration law.[16]" Lol are you seriously going to sit there and pretend that the only reason mexicans go to the US is to flee violence? I'm not even going to comment on that. However, I'm not going to disagree with you on the cheap and manual labor statements because that's one of the things you're accurate about. The EU doesn't force Britian to accept migrants, however, the EU actually took Britian to court because Britian because it wanted to limit the benefits payments to migrants. The EU is by far the most socialist organization in the world. In addition to what the EU was already making them do, they wanted Britian to give an extra £800 million to the EU JUST because Britian's economy was outdoing all of the other countries in the EU. Doesn't get more socialist than that. Britian payed £35 million a day to the EU, which is a LOT of money that could've been used on something more useful.
