Egypt has had quite a few similar cases before I believe. I presume its a matter of improper coordination between the airtaffic personnel and the flight. It may have lost contact or have gone through a dangerous unexpected course.

I feel like people are jumping to conclusions by pinning it on terrorism immediately. In past acts of obvious terrorist attacks, ISIS and Al Qaeda have claimed responsibility shortly - if not immediately after the fact.

I thought Sunni was the passive sect? Read somewhere Al Qaeda was mainly Shi'a (and ISIS is obviously Islamic), but you never know.

Definitely the loss of contact has led to It's existence being unknown.
If communications were transmitting throughout the flight, they'd have a fair Idea (If not accurate) of It's whereabouts.

Bombings and terrorism are only a small fraction of Islam's violence and irrationality. Getting rid of those two would definitely not make it "so much more peaceful".

You could be right there. There's not enough information about it to really make an accurate assumption. But then, that's why I made this thread to see what people thought.
