Us blacks respect this time given to us to give time in order to respect the African-American hardships. More than a worship, it's a tribute to how hard they worked during the Civil Rights Movement in order to get our rights after being wrongfully treated for multiple generations. Blacks have done a lot for the country; inventors, activists, sports, music, etc.
Although the African Americans were not the first slaves, that much is obvious. But whether the other countries did a tribute for what they did, is an entirely different story. Racism will always be a factor in life, always. Even after these laws and shit were established; there's still going to be racism and discrimination. Hence why we have to work 10x harder for what we have than the average white man. Hence why officers shoot fucking unarmed blacks. Hence why someone can get away with murdering someone walking down the street with Skittles and Tea. It's pathetic.

I think the reason for that is because media brainwashes others. They create an image that all black people are in a gang or related to gangs, drugs etc. which in reality they're not. Also, cops shooting blacks is most likely not because of racism, just because they might be scared that they are "more" dangerous then white-skinned people. Also, there is less than 1% of racist cops.

Well actually I am. Not something I usually discuss online but roughly 2 years ago I went to prison on charges of attempted murder and gun-point robbery when I wasn't even the one who did this. They just assumed that it was me more than likely because of the color of my skin. Funny thing is, it turns out that the one who actually did it; was a white guy.

I don't mind it. Although I think it's pretty silly to have it as a standalone time for /learning and understanding/. It's been around for almost one hundred years so it's w/e. I'd rather it be brought together with the rest of the history lessons in school. Which from what I remember, it was. I did a bit of research on it and Morgan Freeman stated, "I don't want a black history month. Black history is American history."

I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but I can't fucking stand Black History Month, it's without a doubt one of the worst things I've ever seen. Didn't MLK want everyone to be equal, including blacks and whites? Well, if he did why would a bunch of blacks go and create this black history month that in return divides the blacks and the whites, along with all the other races? It's extremely stupid. I'll link a video from Morgan Freeman back in '09 where he talks about his opinion of BHM. Keep in mind, the man talking about this is black!
