If it's a major issue teachers could take phones at the beginning of a lesson. That is true, but the students would be informed before the lesson because if they were to enter a classroom without having one thought of what is being broken down...then they wouldn't have had a chance to focus on that, especially if it had a test. If they were told beforehand about it, the students can then collaborate on a scheme to cheat/get an upper hand to that subject perhaps without setting their mind at full throttle. RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - cam - 01-01-2016 I support phone being on school grounds 100%... that's just me though and I respect what your opinion is I just don't agree with it RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - Migo - 01-01-2016 Well let's face it everyone. If you're using your phone at school it's probably not for studying. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and other apps are huge distractions. School is for learning. RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - The Punisher - 01-01-2016 Now my school in my last year is making it so we can use our technology/ phones more while working on projects which i agree with. I think the problem is the distraction would be too high but now a days its essential to have them no matter what field or education your apart of. RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - jarvis54 - 01-01-2016 I think it's a good idea to let students carry them around, but not necessarily use them during class. RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - Jacket - 01-01-2016 At my old school we used something called ClassOwl where teachers put all the assignments up and we could view them to remember what we needed to do. It's easy to tell if a kid is on their phone so honestly I say its fine as long as the students aren't using them for something other than school. RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - Rick_ - 01-11-2016 I study in a fairly good 6th form (Here in the UK) and they allow cell-phones outside of classes and even have a private WiFi connection that we can connect to, obviously I occasionally use it to check Facebook or something but I also use it to download or look at academic shit whilst I'm studying, I really don't care, if people aren't using it in classes I don't see any issue. RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - tempman100 - 01-17-2016 Basically what Para said, maybe on a break phones should be allowed. Otherwise on lessons, the teacher could take the phones beginning of a lesson so it doesn't distract others, or yourself. ad:

Phones are essential at school, you need a way to communicate with the outer world(Not during lessons), if you need to look up some info online, play games during break, etc. And as Paradigm said - "If it's a major issue teachers could take phones at the beginning of a lesson." RE: Should cellphones be allowed in/on school grounds? - Zodiac - 01-17-2016 I think they should be allowed. We used to be allowed to use them. I felt that I'd concentrate on my work more whilst listening to music than I would without music. However, students shouldn't be allowed to use them in listening apart from music. At break/lunch times, people can use them to revise and what not. However, maybe there would be more stealing from people's bags. |
