I don't think you read it correctly. I didn't say "it's impossible", I said "it's virtually impossible", which are different. 2/10 you tried.

No, that's not my logic. Anyone who chooses to use Tor on a public, heavily monitored network like a college network for something like that is retarded and deserves to get caught. How anonymous you are on Tor depends on you, the user. If you're not careful enough and don't adapt to the correct browsing habits for staying anonymous, you will get caught. That statement has proven itself many times in the past. Otherwise, you're fine, which has also proven itself. About the "email" thing, how would they automatically know that the email was sent by someone on the campus network? And even if they did, you think they could just arrest someone that happened to be on Tor at the same time the email was sent? And this is the guy who is trying to call out my logic...

Is there something wrong with that somehow..? Lets say someone did something illegal while using Tor through their ISP. Once again, how would anyone know it came from that ISP's network? And once again again, you think they could arrest someone that happened to be connected to Tor at the time the illegal activity was committed? Furthermore, if they did happen to get caught, it wouldn't matter because anyone doing dumb shit on Tor knows how to get rid of any evidence on their computer after doing anything they know would put them in handcuffs.

I know you're upset because I gave you a neg rep and called you a faggot, but I think it's time to get past that. Okay honey?

huh? you said you didn't like me and you don't know why lol, why would i care i'm just pointing out your clearly uneducated mind on this topic.

But please mr. onion master i'd love to see a guide how how tor routing works i'm sure you're an expert. Smile

lol, ad hominem'ing because I deflected your dumb statements. Common in 12 year old children. I'm not the one implying he's an expert here. You told me I don't know how Tor works, care to explain then Einstein? If I'm "clearly uneducated" then educate me friend.

I said "I'm pretty sure" because I didn't have skype installed at the time of that reply. Ya happy? Will you stop crying now?

If you watch that video I linked, I can't remember the specific time but he says that someone was actually arrested because there was evidence they were connected to Tor at certain times that certain crimes were committed. Granted they need a LOT more evidence than just that, I'm just saying that it is possible for that to be a contributing factor.

inb4 i get a long winded response.

The idiot used his universities network to email a threat. He was probably one of the only students connected to Tor at the time.

Of course, it probably made it a bit easier seeing as he admitted to it. But then again, had he not admitted to it, it's possible it was just a coincidence he was connected at that time but I'm sure they scared the shit out of him and got a confession.

It's around 18 minutes I believe. Give or take.

Edit: @meow , do you know the difference between choosing SOCKS5 and the Tor SOCKS5 option?

I don't know the technical difference behind the two regarding the options on Pidgin, however, when I tried to use the option "Tor/Privacy (SOCKS5)" at one point, it didn't work at all. When I switched to the plain "SOCKS5" option, it worked perfectly. It could've just been a problem on my end but either way, what's the point of having a "Tor/Privacy (SOCKS5)" when it works exactly as it's supposed to with the "SOCKS5" option?

I came across this while trying to look for a technical difference.
Quote:The difference is that the Tor/Privacy proxy will disable various
other pieces of functionality (e.g. DNS queries) instead of just
proxying actual connections through a proxy. If you have pidgin
configured appropriately (e.g. disabling UPnP, etc) we're not aware of
any leakage of information to someone listening between you and the
proxy endpoint.

Also, another user stated that to use the Tor version of SOCKS5 you must enter the IP address rather than the host name but I can't verify that.
