Booting a website off doesn't fuck up anything, you just can't connect for a while.

All website have a downtime period if the server needs restarting or is being upgraded, and just for example if this site where to go offline for maintenance for a few hours you think members would leave?

Yeah I don't think a site being offline for a little bit would really make any drastic changes on the member base.
