RE: Should I work on my website? - pastezilla - 12-29-2015 Will you learn from it? if yes, then do it; humans are gifted with brains use them to the best of your ability. RE: Should I work on my website? - insidious - 01-05-2016 Someone said to use a CMS. In your case I'd assume you'd end up using Wordpress or something else equally as bloated. IMO, you'd be much better off using something like Jekyll. It will save you on Hosting costs (host for free with Github or Netlify), will load 100x faster without the hours figuring out someone elses shitty WP plugin, and it's much more programmer-friendly in the sense that you just design your website with HTML/CSS/JS/whatever and generate it. It's also amazing for blogging. I use it for both my blogs, one of which gets a decent amount of traffic daily, and I never have a load time of under 2 seconds. When I used to use wordpress, the loadtime would be 10+ seconds in some cases, with an absurd amount of plugin/ general configuration. My personal opinion on monitization is, don't do it unless you get a good amount of traffic. If you get under 1000 unique hits a day, the amount of $$ you make with ads (assuming your doing ads and not another form of revenue like Affiliate Marketing) is totally insignificant. Not only is it insignificant, however, but it's also detrimental to your view count. New users may be repulsed by the ads on your site and therefore not return to it, ever. As to if you should do it? If you're interested, hell yes. Blogging is an awesome outlet of creativity for me, personally. If you blog often, in my experience at least, it's kind of a way to form your own ideas into more concrete structures which lets you tackle them more, and has opened me up to many opportunities/ideas than I would ever have imagined. + You get to meet some awesome people along the way. Don't worry if your content isn't great right now. Practice makes perfect, literally. If itake my very first post and compare it with my latest, there is no comparison. The latest post may still be lacking, but the improvement is kind of ridiculous. If you want to exchange guest posts at any time, PM me
