RE: Bugging out - xevenofhearts - 06-17-2015 And don't forget about storing water, and having ways to filter it, there's plenty of great systems out there. There's a lot of mistakes in people stocking up on water. RE: Bugging out - Eclipse - 06-17-2015 Sounds a little extreme, paranoid even. RE: Bugging out - Akane - 06-17-2015 I think a survival kit should be more than just a bag; you should have the skills to survive too. Yea canned good don't expired unless the can is damaged, rusted, dented badly, etc it will last a lifetime. And I might write up a guide for that though. Spoiler:The steamboat Bertrand, carrying cargo up the Missouri River to Virginia City, Montana Territory, sank on April 1, 1865, after hitting a snag in the river north of Omaha, Nebraska. Half of its cargo was recovered 100 years later. In 1974, samples of canned food from the wreck, including brandied peaches, oysters, plum tomatoes, honey, and mixed vegetable, were tested by the National Food Processors Association. Although their appearance, smell and vitamin content had deteriorated, there was no trace of microbial growth and the food was determined to be still safe to eat https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertrand_(steamboat) (06-17-2015, 05:32 PM)Akane Wrote: I think a survival kit should be more than just a bag; you should have the skills to survive too. Of course, you got to know your area, wild edibles, how to improvise, how to make shelter, how to hunt, how to protect yourself, at least basic first aid, etc. Without at least basic skills your chances decline by id say more then 50%. I on the other hand would rather prepare and end up being wrong then to not prepare and be right. Scenarios already happened so there is no denying the fact that it can happen. I could win the lottery tomorrow. I could become Prime Minister. I could fuck Mila Kunis. None of those things are going to happen, but they could. EMP's knocked out the power grid in Canada in the 80s. Russia invaded Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Isis, they are all threats. Tensions between the US and Russia are increasing to a dangerous point. Use even Pearl Harbor as an example it was unexpected, and if people would of been prepared for knowing such things could of happened in all scenarios there could of been less deaths. Does it mean something will happen? no. But can it happen? yes. By the way if you win the lottery shoot some cash my way? because it can happen. And trust me lord knows I could use $100,000. |
