I don't have alot of money though, so I'll probably let it crash into the ground or use parachutes. I will make sure I send it up a day where there's no wind at all. On the other hand, what camera should I use? There's one specificly for the Raspberry pi that costs $25. The quality is not very good on it though. I have a webcam that's HD that I can use. :3 RE: Raspberry pi idea - Boomslang - 08-02-2014 (08-02-2014, 03:54 PM)RaccoonCity Wrote:(08-02-2014, 03:42 PM)RootTheSystem Wrote: You could use electromagnetic waves to transfer data. It wouldn't cost much if you build your own transmitter. http://sci-toys.com/scitoys/scitoys/radio/am_transmitter.html I'm not familiar with Raspberry Pi's circuits but use tha HD one if you can. It's just a normal USB one. It's fine. RE: Raspberry pi idea - Ex094 - 08-02-2014 Or what you can do is make a powerful cannon, and shoot yer pi in the sky and allow it to take pics while it decents via the parachute :epic: RE: Raspberry pi idea - RaccoonCity_mybb_import13707 - 08-02-2014 (08-02-2014, 04:04 PM)Ex094 Wrote: Or what you can do is make a powerful cannon, and shoot yer pi in the sky and allow it to take pics while it decents via the parachute :epic: That's the only way to actually get it in a orbit around earth. On the other hand - it's hard as fuck. LOL RE: Raspberry pi idea - Lynux - 08-02-2014 A simple parachute system could as the balloon rises until it pops, some form of ADD/Automatic Activation Device could help with this, can't remember where I found this. AAD is “a self-contained mechanical or electro-mechanical device that is attached to the interior of the reserve parachute container, which automatically initiates parachute deployment of the reserve parachute at a pre-set altitude, time, percentage of terminal velocity, or combination thereof.” RE: Raspberry pi idea - Isaac - 08-02-2014 I don't understand why it has to be connected to the Internet. You could hook it up to a card reader to save the Images in an SD card. It's easier if you just send them over by SSH instead of looking for it after it has landed with the SD card, and you don't take the risk of anything breaking. But if I can't manage to get internet for it, that's the best - or might even be the only way of recieving the photos. RE: Raspberry pi idea - someknight - 08-04-2014 I was wanting to do something similar to this as well with my pi. But then I was reading about fishpi and now I want to try and make one of those first. Lol Adafruit sells a bunch of Pi accessories that ha e tutorials on how to interface with the devices as well so you could add gps, temperature sensors and all sorts of fun stuff. If only I had a bunch of money and some spare time lol. |
