As already stated, Kali does absolutely nothing by itself. It's a scraped version of Debian with pre-installed tools. What's bad about this, you might ask? Kali lacks the stability of Debian, plus it's bloated with tools you're never even going to open.
My recommendation would be; Pick a distro you like and install the tools you need yourself. You're going to get a much better and more stable environment, besides better security. If you were to pick a Debian based distro, you might even install the Kali repo yourself. By doing this, you will also learn to explore the Linux world a bit more, than by using a Live distro.
