If your code is good, hackers can't use SQLi, XSS... attacks. I didn't download this file, because I don't need it, but can you tell me how this protect you from ddos attacks? I don't get it.

I highly doubt it does much of anything against Distributed Denial of Service attacks. No software firewall can do anything to prevent that. Mitigation is essentially the only thing to be done in terms of DDoS preperation.

Wouldn't this be easily handled by cloudflare? Just wondering but wouldn't the easiest way to secure your website be in the cloud?
