Obviously I can't be certain but the rubber ducky basically pretends to be a keyboard connected to your computer. So first it waits for some idle time then it starts typing. Using keyboard shortcuts(as its pretending to be a keyboard) it can say write a shell script then run it while the computer is idle. It is somewhat obvious so often they will be programmed to wait for a couple hours of idle atleast to ensure you're really gone but it could be shorter.
