The internet is evolving everyday, for example, if you apply for a job/career, the company WILL ask you for your eMail address, but you have no choice to give the employer your contact details through "Trust", or you say you "Forgot your Mail address"
It's still social engineering, whether there is a trust relationship and you believe the company won't do anything with your data.
Same goes for websites, you could choose to use a Fake Email or your real one, but they'll still have your contact details if you forget about it and decide to purchase something from the site with Paypal.
Everyone is exposed one way or another.
