I could reproduce the error and know now what is causing this. My fault was using only small archive files to test.
The problem is the time it takes to read large archives. This is part of the library I used, so I can't just repair it in my own code. I will probably have to change parts of the library to my needs.

It also explains why it doesn't work in the GUI version. Same problem.

I am not sure when I get to changing this as it will be a lot of work.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Well, I had thought about it. Was about to try with a smaller archive but didn't have time.

Please, no problem if you'll do it farther, let me know when you get to fix it.

Edit: does it still switch cases while trying words? I guess nope, am I right?

As long as it doesn't work right I will add a section about limitations to the description.

You mean from lowercase to uppercase or vice versa?
It doesn't change the words from the wordlist.
But I am working on this too. I will create a program that can check your list for duplicates, merge large lists by removing duplicates (GB sized, I will use external merge sort for it) and also update the list with variants of a word.

I will use the code for the last part for the archivecracker too to check for word variants.
I will also update the archivecracker with your suggestion of user defined alphabets.

I mean that when we have a wordlist with WoRd and worder, it should check (only if case switching is checked by the user in the frontend) for word, Word, WOrd, WORd, WORD, wORD, woRD, worD, word, etc...

You'll see the importance to let user able to NOT use this option, as it takes tons of time more. Maybe he could choose also between all uppercase and all lowercase switching (word, WORD, worder, WORDER).

So cool for the duplicate remover for big wordlists. I had been looking for duplicate removers able to handle great sizes for too much time, until I chose to make one myself. Only problem is, it is too slow. I had added the possibility to merge wordlists and remove duplicates from them together too.

I used (as often) a not very orthodox way to do so. I in facts had it make empty files in a temporary directory where each file had the name of a line in the list(s). This way, when we did it for two files with the contents

Code:
test word test1 test

and

Code:
test word test2

it would have made an empty file (if it wasn't empty, for large wordlists the user might have run outta space) called test, one called word, one test1, one test (overwriting the already made one instead of checking for existance), another one test, word and test2.

In the temp directory what we would have would be test1, test, word, test2 (sorted by last modification).

Then I used the DIR command to write all of the file names in the directory to the output file.

I was using batch, so no way to use multiple threads; instead I could at most use other files coded by the main file itself at that moment to help sharing the work.
Still it is too slow. I'm working on the speed still, but if you make one with multithreading, I'll surely better use that.

RE: [HC Official] ArchiveCracker CLI version (more features than GUI) - chmod - 05-03-2013

works great on fedora and is lightning fast even putting the password on a test .zip file at the bottom of the list supplied and using default thread settings it finds it in less than 2 seconds

RE: [HC Official] ArchiveCracker CLI version (more features than GUI) - Deque - 05-05-2013

@noize: Interactive alphabet definition added:

[Image: phsh2sjw.png]

The issue with large archives is still not entirely solved, but it should be faster now (it isn't stuck at 0%).

@chmod: Thanks

RE: ArchiveCracker CLI version (Alpha) - Deque - 05-09-2013

Removed from the Official section as there are too many problems to ensure the quality that I want for official tools.
I may move it back when I solved the problems, but probably I will have to implement a lot of the part by myself what the library is doing at the moment and this is too much to be done in few days.
