RE: chmod's guide to staying (mostly) anonymous - chmod - 09-23-2013 Both OS are on the same drive, which password you enter determines which one is booted. For more information on this have a look here RE: chmod's guide to staying (mostly) anonymous - neguncem - 09-29-2013 first thing first. I understand I need to buy a laptop. will do. then take other measures described here. and lets see where it goes from there. RE: chmod's guide to staying (mostly) anonymous - cL1kz0r - 10-17-2013 Hi Chmod , a random idea struck my mind and was wondering if it was possible.. Like could I install a Linux OS on my pendrive with some specific so I can access it from remote places (Its capacity is 4 GB) And Finally Encrypt the entire OS with truecrypt? My question here , after hiding the OS , when I choose to boot from USB HDD , will it ask me for a password or something? Like the process of decryption. Yes this would be possible you would just choose the pen drive as the location of the hidden volume when setting it up. as for remote access you could ssh into the box for command line access or install a vnc server for the full desktop. RE: chmod's guide to staying (mostly) anonymous - twix - 10-18-2013 Very informative thanks this got me thinking. RE: chmod's guide to staying (mostly) anonymous - aluthrenite - 10-19-2013 Nice post, but as I was reading it a thought manifested itself in my head. Wouldn't it be easier to buy the parts separately and build a computer at home? There are some advantages in doing this, as far as I can see: - Your computer wont come with any software included. - Buying the parts in different places could make it harder to track you down, as long as you pay with cash. - It'll be a new machine. I understand that you might not be able to do this if you want a laptop. However, for aquiring a PC, there seems to be advantages in building one, as opposed to ghosting around, trying to get a used one, potentially comitting crimes. What are your thoughts? RE: chmod's guide to staying (mostly) anonymous - chmod - 10-19-2013 It's certainly an option however a desktop PC would not be mobile and that's quite a large part of this article the ability to miles away from where you live using networks that have no connection to you. |
