I find drowning and burning the most scary deaths but not the most painfull.
The most painfull is probably torturing method 'Cleansing the soul' or the Quartering by horses.

i've watched.a movie in which they held the.victim's mouth open and put a snake.in his mouth. this was dam creepy

I don't think ancient torture methods are still used, but I certainly agree with the first one.
Imagine living during that time, must've been extremely bizarre. You could get accused of witchcraft, if you where able to grind better butter, than someone else.
States with death penalty should invent these methods again, it'd be an authentic way of execution - perhaps even scare people?
