RE: BotnetOnline - Frooxius - 08-16-2012 Yeah, but my point is, that it's difficult for people to say what they want to see in the game, when they have no idea how it is actually played, or anything about that. If you want feedback, you need to give people something to base the feedback on. But like I said, what about some assembly/disassembly stuff in the gameplay? That being said, I have no idea how the game is played, so it's just one of things that I associate with "hacking". It's not the fact itself that why alphatesters are commenting, but rather the context, as no info is provided and to an external observer it's a bit odd when the topic doesn't provide any information about the game, but they're commenting based on information seen outside of the topic. Even if you say that you use phishing in the game... well how? Do you actually have to make some replicate of some page you're presented with? Or is it rather that you just somehow use feature "use phishing" and it acts like you did? What are the target players? If you make it so the game requires some actual hacking knowledge to play, you're going to limit your target audience severely. I don't think that the system of getting to the top is something interesting at all, it's very vague and it could be applied to a wide variety of games, so it doesn't say anything at all. What should be peculiar about the gameplay of this specific game? If you want more people interested in it, you have to sell it right. (figuratively speaking). Why would investor buy a license? End consumers buy a license to use some software or a game, investors give you some start money usually in exchange for a portion of the product/company. And they don't handle distribution or anything like that. What you described is a publisher/distributor that gives the developer payment for their work and then takes the product and sells it somehow (either directly sells licenses or makes it ad-supported for example), so you do the development part, they pay you and they handle the publishing, distribution and earning, that's how it works in the game industry. Or you can just publish it directly yourself, without relying on some man in the middle, which is the approach I'm taking as well (and many indie developers too), because you have a full control over your work and any potential earnings go to you. Publishers sometimes have nasty habit of telling you to change some things in the game to make it more profitable, which is usually a huge pain for the developer, at least, if he cares about his creation. I probably don't want to be a developer of this game, one reason being having many projects of my own, but I think I could say that I work on a bit of a different level. I've helped many beginning game designers throughout the years though and I want to help you to push you in the right direction too. When I start a project, I look if there is a market for it and how big the market is and what it has to offer. Assembly/disassembly stuff is quite a good idea and I might add it there. Thanks ![]() You seemed interested in being a developer so I just offered it
