RE: Microsoft unveils Windows 10 system with Start Menu - Skullmeat - 10-02-2014 I'd assume, its to avoid confusion with Windows 9x (Windows 95/98/Me). Now that's an interesting point I hadn't considered. Still seems a bit silly, but maybe something like this is in play RE: Microsoft unveils Windows 10 system with Start Menu - cr33pyguy - 10-02-2014 (10-01-2014, 01:43 AM)roger_smith Wrote: I bought this laptop with Windows 8.1 in an attempt to keep my Windows skills up to snuff since I still do computer repair on occasion. When I finally stop being lazy, I'll be removing it because I'm over it. I have decided I hate the start interface, it GREATLY reduces my workflow. I'm sure you have your reasons to hate the start interface, but I have to disagree with you - while I don't use the start interface too much, it has never interfered with whatever in doing. In my opinion it is useful, even. But then again I like modern design and minimalism, so that plays a part. I'm also a huge fan of progress and new ideas. Anyway, I will move into windows 10 if it's cheap, otherwise I'll keep using my windows 8.1 RE: Microsoft unveils Windows 10 system with Start Menu - roger_smith - 10-02-2014 (10-02-2014, 09:30 AM)cr33pyguy Wrote: I'm sure you have your reasons to hate the start interface, but I have to disagree with you - while I don't use the start interface too much, it has never interfered with whatever in doing. Maybe it's my system. I will say that on other machines I played with it was pretty quick. I feel like mine was faster when I first got it and since then it has slowed. At first it wasn't bad to me, but now it takes me 30 seconds to even get to the program/app I want to launch, plus the launch time after that. I like the way things are shaping out in Win10, the hybrid of start menu/screen is looking interesting.
