I'd still like a link in the thread, but this is a happy compromise and may be able to offer an idea on how to create the link. I'll play with this and see what I can figure out. Ah I didn't realize you wanted it in the thread. But any ways you can append the following code to the URL and it will take you to the newest post as well Code: ?action=newpostYou could probably write a browser plugin or script to create a button that does it automatically. The admin could also easily hack the template to include a link somewhere. thats quite easy to do as well it just depends on whether he wants to. Maybe have a bit of code that sets a variable for the current url then does something like $URL?action=newpost RE: "First Unread" button - Eclipse - 10-02-2014 This is a great idea. It would save the hassle of looking through all the posts trying to find where you left off. RE: "First Unread" button - 2460h1 - 10-02-2014 Im not sure how well it would work after you've loaded the page. For example, if you load Page 1, and then load it again with ?newpost it *may* think you've already read it. I dont believe my BB has any system to determine how far down the page youve gone and simply relies on whether the latest post has been loaded onto a page for you. but i could be wrong. That may be why theres no such link inside. But they are on all the thread links before you open a thread... which to me it seems logical you would click on those links in the first place if that was your intention. |
