That laptop has a touchscreen. I still find it completely awful. I hate the flat look too. I mean, it's like they decided they wanted to make everything look like Windows 98 again.

Really? I thought the flat look was its best part, since I'm a fan of minimal styles.

A bit of simplicity is nice, but when everything is flat and solid - it's quite boring.

I thought we were supposed to be advancing technologically?

Technologically speaking, it is somewhat of an advancement. It makes it easier for a broader range of people to use and simplifies everything down.
Designwise, ehhh that's up for debate. Depends on your tastes.

I have OS X 10.9.2 on my mid 2012 15" MacBook Pro
Love it and if chose any windows based OS i would say Windows 7 FTW as i hate the flat style from Windows 8
