RE: The UK education system - w00t - 03-11-2014 Oni, be sure to research the uni. There are a few that have large extremely anti-american populations RE: The UK education system - Jiggly - 03-12-2014 (03-11-2014, 05:07 PM)Cressi Wrote: I like the school system from high school and above. Below that, I think the generalization is way too perpetual, and I think we need segregation to get kids the education they deserve. I completely agree. I'm in University now and am incredibly happy with the education as this level. Beyond what used to be GCSE age I think education gets somewhat better. I don't think that all is bad with lower though. Often, it's what you make of a school that changes your experiences. Although, obviously this is not always the case. I also think that the fact teachers get bonuses if their students pass exams well makes a large difference. We're taught to pass exams, not to excel in the subject. The changes being made to the education system seem like they're taking a huge turn downhill. I really am strongly against these changes. I believe the education needed improvement but reverting to O levels isn't the way to go in my opinion. I believe, however, that musch is up to the faculty and the staff, so ensure the best time in school. I wish more of those existed as they're the ones that make you not regret getting out of bed for the shite of a school day xD I loved getting to higher education. Teachers became equals with students at that stage. If it wasn't like.. illegal, I'd have a drink at a few pubs with those teachers. Only the cool ones though. Exactly, that's when I feel you learn what you went to school to actually learn. RE: The UK education system - Uzinero - 03-12-2014 Yeah, UK universities seem to be a whole different story. In there it's only people who actually want to learn, whilst in schools like the one I was going too, teachers looked down on students and there was far too much generalization, not to mention that most of the people had no interest in learning and disrupted the lessons to the point that nobody learned anything purely because they could. I dropped out of secondary school because it was so terrible and switched to home education, and I'm planning to hopefully go to university for Computer Science and Electronics, the Uni's here really do seem great.
