Best case scenario: let's say you can prove that you sent a package with x weight, which arrived empty at the other end. Most carriers don't weigh return packages, but let's say they do. Amazon can just say "we didn't receive the item and will not refund you" because that's exactly what happened. They don't give a fuck about shipping weights etc. (Unless your account is in great standing, and then they'll just refund you out of courtesy.)

I thought that UPS always weighs amazon returns? I thought that's WHY the dry ice method was even a thing to begin with. Is that not true?

They were hit so much, they don't care anymore. If they don't receive the item they will decline the refund request.

dna/eb or serial method for certain items still works if your account is in good standing.

So something like the disappearing ink wouldn't work anymore on amazon too because they adopted that policy of "if we don't receive the item we don't refund" and don't even bother investigating if it's the carriers fault or not?

In my area, UPS does not record return weights. If it's different in your area, ok. Then you're still faced with AMZ investigation and the results depend on your account status.

Again, results will depend on your account status.

But hey, if you're up for some arts/crafts and testing with dry ice, go right ahead. Thing is, with Amazon, you can get away with any method if your account status is excellent and you stick to one story.

Got it. Do you know if Walmart, BestBuy and NewEgg operate the same way?
