ic3.gov is for internet crime so how would it work in case of EB/DNA/MEB/PEB ?

You told paypal PEB so I'm not sure why they didn't ask you to file a police report or an affidavit. I think wait solely because you can't open another one if you close it.
In the meantime, generate the return label from the company you bought it from. You can generate it before 30 days, and you can send it back after 30 days if needed. Its just important to generate the return label before 30 days/14 days/whatever the return timeframe is, because once the timeframe is up you can't generate one. The claim has just started to be analyzed by PayPal and they are to write when they need something from me so maybe they will ask me to file a PR or affidavit soon, I hope not, but we'll see.
Thank you for the return label tip!

Thats the first time, paypal acting so wierd. I'm from EU but not specifically from DE.
Do you already have an action plan? You continue with the claim or cancel it?
(02-14-2024, 12:38 AM)Roadman Wrote: Yes me as well. Paypal claims are starting to become harder.
Usually it's an instant "we have raised a claim and the company has 10 days to respond" but now they make you wait multiple days before they officially open the claim and send it to the company. Maybe it's because recently people have been overdoing with disputes on stores that do not respond to PP. PP just got down to work and is slowly starting to verify the situation.
Any info backing this? This is just my speculation but it could be true. The fact is that people were doing too much disputes lately and this is (maybe) why PayPal is now starting to review similar disputes more thoroughly before they are approved. You may even come to such a conclusion yourself when you carefully read this forum and posts about PP.

In your case, I think you managed to file what you wanted, a dispute in which the seller has 10 days to respond, and if he does not respond within this period, you will get your money back.
We are talking about a problem in which PayPal itself immediately transforms our dispute into a claim, so we cannot be dependent on the seller's response.

I think that pp consider that as a police report, so i would say yes…

(02-13-2024, 07:40 PM)jefff Wrote: Hi, I need to get some information and advice from you about a strange event with PayPal that I am struggling with.
So the situation is this: a few days ago I filed a dispute against the seller. When creating this dispute, I chose the reason "Item Not Received". Anyway, in the description of the entire dispute, I described the situation that I received PEB (I wrote that I did not receive 2 of the 3 laptops I ordered so there was only one laptop in the package). I also wrote to them that I contacted the seller by phone but it didn't help.
Once I filed this dispute, it was not automatically accepted as a dispute by PayPal and had the status "We are currently investigating this matter" for several days.
It was very strange for me because during previous disputes they contacted the seller after a while and immediately the status was "Waiting for the seller's response" and the timer was set for 10 days.
This morning I received an email updating my case.
"Based on the information received, we have changed the reason for reporting the case. You are reporting a claim because there is a significant difference between the item or service and the original description."
It turns out that, unfortunately for me, they turned my dispute into a claim... And more specifically a SNAD claim.
So I can't count on a response or no response from the seller. Currently, the case status on my PayPal account is "Under review". And the estimated resolution date is scheduled for 20 days.
Now the question for you, dear friends, is it worth pursuing this claim? The value of this order definitely exceeds 2k.
Do you have any way to win such a claim for sure? I saw that there is an option to send messages and evidence to PayPal in the form of, for example, photos.
Do you think that sticking to my version of events from PEB will simply be enough?
Or maybe I should cancel this claim and try to create a dispute again, but this time under SNAD not DNA.
Thanks in advance! Seems strange to me that you would peb two laptops. I know you were banking on the fact that the company won't respond, but since pp turned your dispute into a claim. It will be very easy for the company to just send them the tracking number and or the weight of the parcel and your claim will be denied. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me, but that was just my two cents.

I chose PEB without much consideration of this decision because I hoped in advance that the reason for the dispute would not matter because they would not respond to it. I did not expect that my case would be transformed into a claim. We'll see how it ends, I'll definitely let you know here.
