Although the "wrong" item was packed and dispatched the same day the SE item arrived, it is only 2-3 days max between delivery of both items (different address, same postcode)

Do you think it is still a good condition for WIR success?
The dispatched date Is of relevance, so the WIR Is good to go.

Thank you for your help. Turned out the arrival date was less than 24hrs so WIR is in process now.

There might be a slight sticking point though:
the name of the item were hand written on each shipping label. And they are asking for the label to returned along with the "wrong item".

If I do that, they will obviously see that the correct item is written on the label but somehow I've received the "wrong" item in it (which they dispatched yesterday to another address).

I am debating whether to comply as sending back the label is not a normal procedure, I could've easily have thrown it away.
Or I could comply because it still doesn't prove that they sent the wrong item.

I could easily photoshop the handwritten item name onto the label and email them that too but if they took a picture of the label before dispatching then I'd be in trouble.

What do you think I should do here?

Update: They wrote back saying that the item was packed on friday, the wrong item wasn't being dispatched that day and have cctv footage showing that the correct item was packed. The item was packed in an envelope and shipped in the carrier plastic bag.

I haven't responded regarding the label but I think it would be foolish to fraud it since they may have a footage of it too.

Would I have better chance winning a chargeback or is it time to take the L and walk away from the claim? @mothered

Update: If I simply walked away, it is as good as admission of guilt. I also didn't want to give them more ammunition so I said I've thrown away the carrier packaging along with the shipping label.

And I noticed that they said the jacket was packed but didn't say it was for me. So I played on that and asked them if they can see conclusively from the cctv footage that it was packed in the envelope addressed to me, that it wasn't sent to a different buyer by mistake.

At the very least this will buy me some time and possibly more information on what they have on me, to possible formulate the next course of action.

That’s pretty impressive play from your side!
Do you have any update?

They don't have concrete evidence but they put together enough information to investigate.
I made some mistakes which further investigation could expose, too risky. I decided to take the L and move on.

But overall I learned some good stuff.
