I just don't have the same emotions running through me and thoughts aren't flowing like they were. Totally. I don't believe in heaven and hell so I welcome death when it comes knocking. It is my best friend and liberator. What about when the time comes and you realize that you have not done what you wanted. Doesn't it anger you to never be able to see what happened 100 years down the line? I guess it won't matter once we're dead but it does while we are alive. Or it does to me. RE: What do you think about death? - Harvey - 08-25-2013 I recently had an epiphany with regards to death. Most people find the concept of dying to be sad and depressing but that's not death. That's when you're alive. Death is when you no longer exist. You no longer have thoughts, memories, or a concept of reality. You don't remember dying, you don't remember what it was like to die, and you don't have any recollection of ever existing - hell you don't even know what existence is. That's death. Not sad and depressing, not peaceful, just nothing. RE: What do you think about death? - Guardian - 08-25-2013 (08-25-2013, 08:35 AM)Harvey Wrote: I recently had an epiphany with regards to death. Along those line I remember seeing a quote from someone along the lines of "Before I was born I had been dead for billions of years and it did not affect me one bit." It is pretty mundane to completely fear death. About the only part of death I fear is the pain leading up to it. I just hope mine is quick, then I will be ok with it. Either way, I won't have any control over it so it doesn't matter. RE: What do you think about death? - Bliss - 08-25-2013 One thing that bugs me about death is feeling that what you did really didn't matter all that much. Years down the line, people won't remember you and you'll just be a statistic... RE: What do you think about death? - Loli - 08-25-2013 It's something every living thing will encounter one day. It is something that will mold us, and end us. Personally though I think death is beautiful, because it's quiet. It's peaceful. It's the end. There isn't anything else, it's just over. It's done. When I know death is knocking at my door, I want to great him as an old friend, read to transcend into nothingness, together. What do us petty humans know what will happen later? (08-25-2013, 07:40 PM)Snow Wrote: It's something every living thing will encounter one day. It is something that will mold us, and end us. I respect your dignity. RE: What do you think about death? - Four - 08-25-2013 When my time come to die I will welcome it with open arms and gratitude. I don't want to die at this given time, but I'm sure when the time comes I wont be fighting it. It will end my time here in this fucked up world and it will be dark and quiet, two of my favorite things. It's not like you're looking down from heaven (or maybe to you it is) at all the people still living and major world events happening all while you're being forgotten about. Nope, it's even pure blackness. It's complete non-existence. When you are dead, you might as well have never existed. Yeah, I suppose when we consider the thought of dying, you're right. But what makes for really interesting discussion is what 'exactly' happens when we're dead. |
