Don't see why it would be any different than if you pay with a card.
You put a claim with the merchant as when you opened the box, one item was missing.
There are cash on deliveries in some countries where you can open and check the contents but I presume this is the not the case here?

Would think they would ask for your bank account details and transfer it over.
Manual but not complicated for a company of any size.

Isn't lost in transit on the delivery still valid?
Always best to go for the path of least resistance but should still be possible in theory.

yeah this is a silly question ik but im so curious
I have sold items for cash on delivery and the courier gave me an envelope with the money inside. So I can assume that a refund would be the same.
