Update:
Three day investigation followed by a three day investigation, and now another three day investigation. Is this standard? I asked "if there was anything I could do to help" in the most recent chat, but it doesn't seem like they're asking for a police report yet.

The only thing you can do, Is contact them every few days to see where your claim stands. It serves as a reminder to speed things up.

Update: got the refund a day or so ago.
I think I over-complicated this SE by ordering multiple small items that I thought would all be bundled into one package. Instead, I ended up with one package containing the camera and another tiny item, and three more envelope-sized packages containing things like SD cards and adapters. I only reported the package containing the camera missing. I was asked about the other packages several times. It would have been simpler to have only one package to talk about.
