Or perhaps the representative approved the claim at his/her discretion. There are many reasons why claims are approved/declined.

My previous post Is based on reps who follow protocol, and work strictly by the book during the claim's assessment.

That's true, maybe I just got lucky.

At the end of the day, your SE succeeded and that's all that matters.

Well done.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on the success rate of this, compared to Amazon?
They're both much of a muchness.

The sealed box method and the wrong Item received are also well-suited.
i’ve read this many times but i still can understand that what is the sealed box and how it works, can you explain please?

Everything is described on mothered's blog, here is the link to several posts covering the Sealed Box method.

I have decided to do a Macbook SE from BestBuy instead of directly through Apple. I will keep you posted on the results.

How did it go? Were you able to succeed with Best Buy?

I'm still working on it. I've had the item for about a week but I'm still dealing with support. At first they told me a refund had been issued, but it has been a week, and I contacted support and now they are telling me to return the item to a local store. I staged a battery leak and sent compelling images, so they believe the item is not fit for shipping, but they still have said that a refund will only be issued once I return the item to a store.

I have tried telling them that I am not comfortable touching the item due to battery acid for my health and safety, and they told me they will send someone over here to pick the item up for me. I've kind of been backed into a corner here and not really sure what to do now. It seemed easy at first but I got caught in a mess of different support people telling me different things. I still think a refund may be processing but I'm not sure.

Any tips here? particularly @mothered

id say that you've had to dispose of it as it causes a health risk to your new born son and pets as you didn't want to leave it around the house , also push the fact that you've been told all different things and your getting frustrated that your being messed around

Sounds like a good plan. I'll really stress the fact that I had to dispose of it for the safety of my family. I'll try to force their hand by claiming it's no longer in my possession and already been picked up by the trash truck. I'm just afraid at that point they may say I'm just no longer eligible for a refund.

Do you have a record of the refund confirmation?

Tell them that due to being told a refund had been Issued, you had no purpose to keep the Item, hence It was disposed of.

It's their refund confirmation that led to the Item's disposal, so be sure to make It clear that they're responsible for the event.
