It's under a friend's name, I don't know why I chose to do so but I am regretting my decision now

That's because records are kept of every claim, hence reps simply refer to previous and current notes.

I told the rep that police are refusing to provide a report, and they told me that they are unable to do anything unless they have a police report, even though it’s clearly not theft

It's a typical response from Amazon's representatives, most of whom fail to use common sense with claims that are clearly not associated with theft.

Did you use real or fake details on the account?

Fake details
It will complicate matters. You should've used your real credentials.

At any rate, there's a few options at this stage.
  • Say that your brother opened the box and took the Item without your knowledge, then return It for a refund and box them.
  • Request your claim be escalated on the grounds It's not a theft-related Incident, hence the PR cannot be filed.
  • Return It for a legit refund, reorder It on a totally different account, and SE them by using another method.

The first option may raise suspicion, namely because you've first claimed It was missing and then boxed them.

I will try to get my claim escalated,  but I am unsure of what to say to the agent. If you have any ideas of what I should say I would really appreciate any help! Thanks

The purpose of your escalation, Is because the PR cannot be provided for reason that the police Is unable to Issue a report for an Incident that's not theft-related.

I cannot fathom why the reps fail to understand something so simple.

After escalating the case, the agent still said i needed a police report, and said that they could not do anything else. Any suggestions?
