In such a case, It puts the responsibility on the person who signed at reception, which you'd certainly want to avoid.

Avoid because of the moral aspect of using someone or the risk of the courier going back to the receptionist?

Both.

Moreover, If an Investigation Is opened by contacting reception, I don't need to explain the outcome.

You might be surprised about the outcome. However, it is a unnecessary risk and if your package is in your buildings reception you would be on camera collecting it as well so adding more evidence if they want to pursue you legally.

Are you saying the person(s) at reception will support the OP's claim of not receiving the package?

@ip4ckedlizzie , any updates?

I'm asking around about an alternate address, I wouldn't want to risk it for reception staff getting involved, at least not for something so obviously large too. Unless I can frame it in a way that support at ebay wouldn't think to contact reception.

Unfortunately, you have very little to no control of the steps taken on the other end of the spectrum - In this case, eBay.

How rare it is that the investigations get denied because they are signed by someone else.

Of course you never know, couriers can show up.
Once even for an EB claim which didn't really make sense as they wanted the box...

Not often at all.

Many drivers sign their consignments. DHL and FedEx are both guilty of It.

Find that DPD is the worst and most likely to go to the receiving address, UPS can do it as well.
Once a driver wrote aaa because the surname was too difficult for them.
Sometimes you can have such luck.

They're also known to take photos of the package at the delivery point, which can be circumvented/rendered Inconclusive with relative ease.
