Are you saying the entire packaging (box etc) has been disposed?

Yes, use the disposed of the faulty Item method by saying you threw It out due to health & safety concerns.

Check If a bank reversal Is applicable to your circumstances.

I will definitely do it before second payment and will also take my card off PayPal (no money on it anyway) and then i will tell them I have a problem with curries and for them to wait for an answer?
Simply file a PayPal dispute/claim through their Resolution Centre, and they'll handle It from there.

Then the sealed box method Is out of the question.

Hi guys this is an update on the laptop! So i am unfortunately at the stage of dealing with PayPal and they are now asking i provide a letter from the fire department stating they took it away etc (from Mauritius but they are not clear on that yet)
This is to REOPEN the case, as it has been opened beforehand when they gave me a stupid verdict, but my persistence has now come to this..

What can i do here? Is it ok to say it was from Mauritius and they are so backwards that they do not provide letters etc or do i have to go down the forgery route?!

Thanks!

^ This.

Tell them the fire department Informed you that they're unable to provide documentation after x-amount of days have passed since Its disposal. I don't know when your PayPal claim took effect, so calculate the "x-amount of days" accordingly.

The supposed incident was supposed to have happened on the 25th of December (when I "opened" the item and it started leaking/smoking)

I have told them they don't issue receipts for these type of things and let's hope this cannbe reopened and continue! If the PayPal claim fails then what is the next suggested course of action? Back to curries or? Im afraid because I opened it late and I took it to Mauritius from the UK i may have somehow voided my consumer rights?

*Update on my last post, PayPal has denied the claim stating they cannot reopen it and to either ask the merchant directly or citizens advice bureau! Damn them!

Yes they can.

You can appeal their decision through PayPal's Resolution Center > Report a Problem > Closed Cases > Appeal. Do note that you have 10 days to do It.

There is no option for it because i believe the customer rep had already "appealed" when she reopened it for me. They are stating without that document they cannot reopen it.. Soo.. What to do.. :/

Whatever PayPal did on their end, Is Irrelevant to the buyer's right to appeal the outcome of the claim.

You have every right to appeal It within 10 days of the case closure. If they try and tell you otherwise, they can refer to their very own terms - which clearly states what I've said from a buyer's standpoint. If they're adamant on requesting the document, use the corrupted file method.
