I did a little digging a while back and have been skeptical ever since this post of ExpressVPN on reddit. Other than that, ExpressVPN was the only VPN that I have been using - though later on switched due to other skeptical reasons.

You are right. I have always been taking them with a grain of salt. When it comes to software, it can greatly effect your privacy. You can never have 100% privacy and security. If you are looking for privacy by installing security measures such as third-party software's, then you are taking the risk of trusting these types of software's to control and/or access everything within your PC.
One way or another, some software's can be used as security measures, but it can greatly impact your privacy. Therefore, achieving both at the same time is impossible.

100% agree with you.
Using cracked accounts has its benefits. Sometimes it gets annoying as the individual changes his/her password. Alternatively, this is why a VPN is extremely useful as it provides many users to connect to the same server - making it harder for 3-letters to track down who you are, that is if the VPN's no-log policy co-exists.

I've had accounts die within a day or two, while others have lasted In excess of 12 months. On-topic of privacy & anonymity, although many users believe It's much of a muchness, there's a clear distinction between the two as follows.

That is a very well-detailed analogy that you used. Well said and informative. Privacy, Anonimity & Security are all used interchangeably without what they do in mind. Understanding the differences between can help many users who are into the world of privacy & security.

Your comment killed me, had a good laugh from it. That aside, they've also had their IRC leaked. Goes to show on how these "privacy-focused" services respect users privacy.
